Hello everyone!

I am Aishwarya Maran living in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. I am new to blogging so I was very much excited to select my genre. I thought of a travel blog and I told my idea to my mom. She shot out questions at me, “Are you going to roam around the city all alone? Do you know at least which bus you should hire to reach your destination? Do you have any idea about the dangers of traveling alone? You can never trust anyone in this world. You better change your idea”.Yes, she was right. I didn’t even know the names of most places in Madurai. I was born in Madurai. I have been living in Madurai for the past 19 years and still I know very little places. I was put in a school where I can reach my school just by walking about 5 mins. You won’t believe, in my school days i never knew any place other than my school and my house. All I knew was the name of the streets around my school and my house. We hardly went to picnics and tours because both of my parents are working. The last family trip was when I was in my 6th standard. We went to Thirupathi and that was all. I never once experienced long travels other than this. I was never given a chance to know how it feels when you travel to different places and explore new things.

Only during my college days I learnt about different places which I had never heard before. I went to college by bus and learnt few names of other places . I was allowed to go to college and come back home by myself, which I never experienced in my school days. Even then I was only able to learn the different names of the places, but I never had a chance to go and visit those places. The desire to see places made me choose travel as my genre. I was so confused and I was telling my idea to everyone hoping that at least a single soul would stand by me.

My dad told that “Being a girl you are not supposed to roam around like that. It’s not safe too. Try some other genre”. Then I told it to my friends.Most of the girls responded “Why do you want to make it so complicated? Try some easy genre.” I didn’t give up. Most of the boys responded “That sounds interesting. It is easy for boys like us, but it is not advisable for girls like you. Better choose cooking as your genre.” I was very strong with my idea. I just wanted to try it out. I just wanted to show them that I can do it.

But then, I was scared. All those advice were going on in my mind and I couldn’t decide properly. My desire for traveling over powered all my doubts. There were also friends who encouraged me. After many arguments my parents accepted.At last, I am here writing my first blog.

As this is the time of Christmas holidays I am going to roam around Madurai and learn new places. I hope, at the end of this holiday I’ll be able to know as many places as possible.I am happy that at last I could atleast roam around different places within madurai.

What will happen to a girl who starts traveling- hardly knowing the city and its routes?
